“An excellent overnight stop”
We chose Portland for its location in relation to our itinerary and for the prospect of seeing kangaroos and koalas around the motel. Unfortunately the wildlife didn't oblige, although the owner went out to check whether the local koala was in residence. We were warmly welcomed and given fresh milk and useful information on places to eat around the town. It's conveniently located with several eating and drinking options within a short walk. Our room was large and we could make our breakfast (and an evening meal had we wanted to). A good place to stop.

“Great location, great hosts"
4th time we have stayed at Melaleuca Motel. Really good value. Close to shops. Close to wonderful nature walk around lagoon for pre breakfast exercise! Wonderful hosts. Thank you Dennis - we will be back!

“Warm reception”
Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a nice clean well-appointed motel room. The managers who have only recently acquired this business have done a good job with it so far and I would expect it would be an ongoing thing. If we are back in the area I would not hesitate to come back as it was a real value for money stay.

“Would highly recommend!”
My partner and I stayed here for the weekend. Impressed by the rooms, especially for the price. The staff could not have done a better job; helpful phone advice, warm welcome including proper milk, free Wifi and a self-made brochure of what to eat and see in Portland (very handy being our first time)! Will be staying here again on our way back through. Highly recommended!!!
“Comfortable”
This was a comfortable, clean, well maintained motel. We arrived after 10pm and they left the key for us without any problems. Great location in the middle of town, near the port. We saw a kangaroo jumping down the middle of the street! Recommend this motel.

“Recommended for a pleasant stay”
We stayed here for one night and found it to be clean, comfortable and quiet. The people on reception were very friendly and helpful. It was all you can ask for in a chain motel, including a guest laundry and free Wi-Fi.

“Unplanned stay”
Found this motel when plans fell through for our alternative accommodation, from the moment we entered reception to enquire the service was amazing lovely clean rooms and the lady and gentlemen on reception who seem to own the motel are the nicest, friendliest, and most helpful couple! Even knocked on our door to show us English travellers a wild koala hanging out in their garden!

It won't disappoint if u stay here and even has fast free Wifi! Don't stay anywhere else in Portland perfect stop on the end or beginning of the great ocean road!

“Nice Motel Right in Town - Close enough to everything”
We stopped in Portland for a night and ended up staying two. What a lovely place. The owners of this motel are very friendly and give great directions to all the sights in and around town. We really had a nice time in Portland. This motel is well priced and allows access to everything you could want to see and do around Portland, and there is plenty to do. Allow a couple of days to take everything in and enjoy - we did was a treat. Thanks.

“Big, clean and comfortable room”
Only stayed one night but was impressed by the size of the room and was well provisioned (including the fresh milk!). Wifi was fast (and free). Most importantly the location was convenient but off the main road so it was nice and quiet yet within walking distance of shops and harbour. The bed was comfortable and the reception desk man was helpful. Only glitch was when I left early, trying to find the keydrop box. Overall, recommended.

“Above and beyond”
My husband and I have stayed at the Melaleuca several times over the last few years and always find it clean and comfortable. The rooms are generously sized. The Owners have always bent over backwards to make sure our stay is enjoyable and it is this attention to customer service that make this my choice when staying in Portland. People need to consider, when booking, that this is a budget motel and therefore can't expect 5 star accommodation but they can be assured that at the Melaleuca they will get clean and comfortable and functional accommodation, close to the town centre, and exceptional service.
Room Tip: The rooms up the back seem to be quieter and have slightly more bench space in the bathroom.

We stayed here for 2 nights while delaying our trip west due to awful weather along the south coast of Victoria.
Good friendly reception with a small carton of fresh milk (not long life) and free Wifi for the room which was unlimited and fast. What a change from lots of other motels and cabins we have stayed at!
The room was very spacious, clean and had fresh up to date décor. There was a separate little alcove which had the (very small) frig and workbench for toaster, microwave and a cupboard containing ironing board and clothes hanger etc. Some plates, cutlery and glasses, jug and toiletries completed the full array of facilities as well as usual TV and air/con.
My wife even used the FREE laundry washing machine and drier to catch up on our washing.
The room was quiet, had a good sized desk and lighting to work at and bed comfortable. We had 2 good night’s sleep.
Motel is located quite close to the bottom end of the main shopping street within walking distance to the supermart.
All in all, a good place to stay in Portland.
